Short presentation:
The Autobianchi A112 was presented in 1969 at the Turin Motor Show, obtaining enthusiastic acclaim, especially among the user categories it was addressed to.
The sales success was immediate and so consistent that, despite the continuous expansion of the assembly lines, for some years the production was unable to satisfy a substantial and constantly growing demand, forcing the aspiring owners of the new model to unnerving expectations that in many cases exceeded twelve months.
In addition to its attractive appearance and brilliant performance, the low purchase and operating costs also contributed to making it one of the most popular and appreciated cars by users of all ages.
In the autumn of 1971, to standardize the production between the 127 and the A112, the same engine with 47 HP that equipped the newborn 127 was installed on the latter, even if the house continued to declare 44 HP for some time.
Also in that year, given the success achieved and the excellent road skills, the house decided to expand the range with the introduction of the E and Abarth versions. The first featured more refined finishes, roof paint in a contrasting color (as on the Mini) and richer equipment, while the second was a sports version made by Carlo Abarth’s atelier.
